Macedonia: Building permits decline neary 7 percent


The number of building permits issued in Macedonia decreased by 6.8% year-on-year to 232 in August, the state statistical office said on Tuesday.

The estimated value of the construction projects covered by building permits issued in August rose by 23% to 3.18 billion denars ($61.0 million/51.7 million euro), the statistical office said in a statement.

In August, a total of 154 permits were issued for new buildings, 20 for civil engineering projects, and 58 for reconstruction projects. Of the total number of permits issued in August, 161 were issued to private individuals.

During the review period, 559 dwellings were planned for construction, with a total usable floor area of 45,011 sq m.
