7 Passes in 60 minutes: Leeds United star Ezgjan Alioski shut down by Sheffield Wednesday

Leeds United new boy Ezgjan Alioski had a game to forget against Sheffield Wednesday.

Statistics can sometimes be manipulated - stating Ezgjan Alioski completed 100 per cent of his passes for Leeds United against Sheffield Wednesday is one such instance.

That sounds like Alioski had a good game - but the opposite is true.

Alioski managed to make only seven passes during his 60 minutes on the pitch at Hillsborough, before he was substituted off.

Teammate Kemar Roofe fared little better. He attempted 11 passes, completing eight.

Roofe had 23 touches of the ball and Alioski had 20. It was no surprise to see the pair hooked off after an hour with Leeds 2-0 down.

Alioski has had a terrific start to the season, but against Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff in midweek, he went missing.

The Macedonia international had two shots at goal, but neither landed on target.

Sheffield Wednesday deserve credit for shutting down both Alioski and Roofe, and Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen will have to go back to the drawing board.

Tactical tweaks are needed, but Roofe and Alioski both need to look at themselves and judge their own performances harshly.
