Nikola Gruevski and VMRO-DPMNE congratulate the citizens on Macedonia's Independence Day

VMRO-DPMNE President Nikola Gruevski and the party group in Parliament congratulated to the citizens on the Macedonian Independence Day.

"On this day, 26 years ago, we the citizens decided that the Republic of Macedonia will be an independent state that will accomplish the dreams of thousands of Macedonians who gave their lives for a country of their own. We endured numerous challenges and turning points. Now, 26 years later, we are again in time when it requires a lot of wisdom, courage and determination in making decisions and acting on them. We are again in a period when questions that touch on our identity are being raised and we have no room to allow mistakes whose consequences will be felt in the future. We must drop the anti-state and anti-national policies and end the wholesale give-away of highest state and national interests. I'm determined that together, united and with a clear vision for our goal, we will make the Republic of Macedonia a better place for all its citizens, a country the likes of which we would want to leave to our children", said Gruevski.

He added that, if the goal 26 years ago was of an independent state, now it also includes having an economically stable and prosperous country, internationally recognized and respected and part of NATO and the European Union.

VMRO-DPMNE's representatives in the Parliament added that the need for a common future and prosperity is more important than the divisions and disagreements. "Let this great day give us all strength and faith to continue to fight all the challenges that stand in the way of the Republic of Macedonia".
