Greek Foreign Ministry calls Roth “to avoid trying to give lessons in history”

Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls German Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth “to avoid trying to give lessons in history” when visiting Balkan countries.

We would call on the German Minister of State Mr Michael Roth to exercise greater caution when visiting Balkan countries, to avoid trying to give lessons in history, and to show the requisite respect for the sensitivities of his European partners, reads the press release of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The reaction of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs refers to Roth’s statement during joint press conference with Macedonian FM Nikola Dimitrov in which he said “no one outside of Macedonia and Greece does not understand the (name) dispute, which is completely absurd."

I think that we should leave history to history and go towards a common future, Roth stated Tuesday in Skopje, which triggered a reaction from official Athens.
