Macedonian Singer Kaliopi Fails to Qualify for Eurovision Song Contest Finals

Macedonian pop ­rock diva Kaliopi failed late Thursday to qualify for the final of the 61st Eurovision Song Contest, taking place in Stockholm, Sweden.

Kaliopi performed her song Dona in Macedonian language, written by composer and former husband Romeo Grill.

In 2012, Kaliopi represented Macedonia in Baku and reached 13th place with her powerful rock ballad 'Black and White' the Grand Finals.

The list of the 26 countries competing to win the 61st Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday (May 14) is now complete following two semi­-finals.

Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, The Netherlands and Russia were all voted through from the first semi-final of the competition on Tuesday (May 10).

Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia and Ukraine all qualified from the second Semi­Final held at the Globen Arena on Thursday (May 12).

The 20 semi-finalists will join France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom as well as hosts Sweden which all have an automatically secured place in the Grand Finals.
